There are many benefits that medication can serve, but for the most part, it should simply be treated as something that supplements communication skills learned in therapy assist teens in their relationships later on with their parents, teachers, siblings, and friends.  Having open lines of communication helps prevent teens from relapsing and needing additional help.  This is why medication alone is not always enough.

2 – Bad Effects of Medication –  Even though medication can help teens in some ways, it also can numb teens, distract them from their school work, make them sluggish, or have any number of other negative effects.  While medication is sometimes necessary, therapy can be a better option if it’s avoidable.
