Interesting Facts For Parents Interested In Finding “Troubled Teen” Programs and Assistance To Do So

I am aware that there are thousands of  ”Online resources.” I am one of them. However, I have to say, this is not the best way, in my opinion, to find “troubled teen programs” for parents.  Teenage years are difficult enough and today, it can be dangerous to make such a serious choice based on an Internet ad.  A child may be having anxiety attacks at school and at home their behavior may seem out of control or difficult. Perhaps you are concerned about alcohol or drugs, a potential eating disorder, or abusive anger issues.  These are all very different issues to be addressed in very different ways. Yes, parents are responsible for finding help for their teen when they have an issue that may be destroying their life. It is important to utilize early prevention whenever possible, starting with local resources before things get out of control. When local resources are no longer being effective, a parent will want to seek help. There are many different kinds of programs and they have many different kinds of names and titles that are used for Internet and marketing purposes so you can find them. There is nothing wrong with that, it just makes parents heads spin when it all starts running together.  Here are a few examples which assist in determining what your child may need: Addiction Treatment Programs – Short Term and Long Term – Residential addiction treatment is often the last stop for an out-of-control substance-abusing teenager. It offers a “time out” from situations that trigger self-destructive behavior, a chance to experience predictable and consistent consequences of behavior, an opportunity to participate in community, and for family bonds to be repaired. In the process, self-esteem — the major antidote to alcohol and drug use – is increased. Adolescent Treatment Programs / Family Environment Residential Programs – Adolescent treatment programs are dedicated to helping those ages 12 to 17 find the pathway back to happiness and family harmony. Their goal is to utilize a family centered approach. They assist troubled and struggling teenagers who have developed behaviors such as defiance towards their parents and other authority figures as well as those who have problems such as ADD / ADHD, depression, drug/alcohol abuse, lying, Reactive Attachment Disorder, school failure, sexual promiscuity, theft or even attempted suicide. Aftercare / Next Step Transition Programs – Success in recovery is an ongoing process. This means that the patient is never “cured” but has begun to build a foundation for recovery during the residential stay.  These programs excel in developing unique aftercare plans. Boys Only Programs -Girls Only Programs – Pre-Teen Programs – These single gender only residential programs provide both long-term and short-term choices. These residential programs are structured. Positive behavior is rewarded through additional privileges and positive reinforcement Christian Based Residential Programs -Christian Residential Treatment Programs for teens are passionately committed to reaching out to at-risk young people to help them realize their self-worth and potential, as well as the significance of God’s individual love for them.  https://drdorefrancesphd.wordpress.com/2010/11/06/interesting-facts-for-parents-interested-in-finding-troubled-teen-programs-and-assistance-to-do-so/
