Helping Parents With Runaway Troubled Teens

Runaway Troubled Teens

At Struggling Teens Co we know that teenage runaways are increasing. Troubled teens run away because they want to escape, run their own show, party, reject authority, and act out in rebellion and defiance. Many of the teens who runaway believe that the grass is greener on the other side. But they are confused and are following the crowd that are making those bad choices.

Teens want to escape the rules that they are given, as the parents themselves become their number one enemy. Many teens feel invincible and act fearless; they feel like they have to prove to their parents that they can survive without their parents and rules. We all know that rules are put in place for a reason; we all love our children and want them to grow up with respect and confidence.

Their plan in some ways usually is that cry for attention. Many times runaways are back home within a day or two. Many situations can be more serious. All situations are serious but when your troubled teen runs away frequently the parents need to intervene. If you are having a problem with a runaway teen please call 866-493-4818.

So many times troubled teens fight with us about how their friends have later curfews or are so much more lenient and that we are the worse parents in the world. This happens very ofter and can make you as a parent feel like you are helpless and alone. It is part of the manipulation the troubled teens put their parents through.

When teens are rebellious and they have their unappreciative thoughts of us as parents, they will turn to their destructive behavior. Which results sometimes in them leaving home. The teen will run to a relative or a friends house and make up stories about their home life. This is common and it can cause pain and humiliation.

If you fear your child is at risk of running, the communication lines have to be open. We understand this can be difficult, but teen help starts with communication. Having a teen runaway can be dangerous and scary, it can bring you to the end of your rope. You need to seek help, try to have faith and know you are doing the right thing by finding them help.

Don’t feel like you are a bad parent or that you have given up. By finding help for your teen you are not giving up you are helping your teen find a better life. We are here to help you as parents. Please give us a call and let us help.
