Merriam-Webster dictionary provides two definitions of the term young adult:

1. a teenager (used especially by publishers and librarians).
2. a person in the early years of adulthood.

The term ‘ young adult’ referrs to a confusing and often times, turbulent and chaotic time in a young man or woman’s life. The ages of 17 – 26, are a time of finding oneself in a struggle to carve out a lifestyle of one’s choosing. It is no wonder that many young men and women struggle with this time and need outside assistance in order to live a healthy and productive lifestyle.

Young adults who are troubled, can find solace from various transitional living programs for troubled young adults. Programs such as residential treatment, Independent living programs and rehabilitation programs, are all viable options for troubled young men and women.
