Is It Just a Phase or Does My Teen Need Help?

When teens act out, it’s very common for parents to ask the question, “Is it just a phase, or does my teen need help?”  It can sometimes be a very find line, because it’s normal for teens to act a bit rebelious occassionally.  The teen years are the first time a child feels some independence, so they might abuse this a bit, but there are certain behaviors that definitely do deviate from the norm and call for help.  If you decide that your teen does require help, Zion Educational Systems can give you the resources you need to find the best help possible.  Our collection of information gives you everything you need to find the treatment options that are right for your son or daughter.  If you are interested, please call us at 866-471-8579.

Behaviors That Call For Help

Regularly communicating with your teen can help you determine whether or not their behavior is a phase.  This may be something only a parent can know.  However, if the behavioral issues your child has go on for more than a few weeks or couple of months, it is very likely more serious than a phase.  There are many behaviors that parents should always keep an eye out for, and should get help with if they get too serious.  Some of the most common issues among troubled teens include stealing, violence, drug use, alcohol use, poor academic performance, self-harm, and mental health or learning problems.  A teen exhibiting any of this behavior should receive help promptly, just in case it isn’t a phase.  If parents operate under the assumption that the bad behavior their teen is taking part in is just a phase, the problem will likely only get worse.
