Traditional therapeutic interventions

Traditional therapeutic interventions refer to therapeutic intervention techniques which are widely and commonly used to treat mentally ill, or therapeutically suffering individuals.

Traditional therapeutic interventions include: counseling psychology, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, rehabilitation counseling, school counseling, hypnotherapy, play therapy, music therapy, art therapy, drama therapy, dance/movement therapy, occupational therapy, psychiatric nursing, psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy , solution-focused therapy, humanistic/existential/transpersonal psychology, narrative therapy

The type of traditional therapeutic intervention utilized greatly depends upon the type of therapeutic or emotional problems an individual is suffering from. When pertaining to the therapeutic interventions of troubled teens, solutions such as boarding schools for troubled teens, residential treatment centers, group homes and wilderness therapies for troubled teens are all viable options and are generally accepted as “traditional.”

Not all traditional therapeutic interventions work for individual troubled teens. Where some therapeutic interventions may work for many teenage boys and girls, it may not be as effective for others.
